May Day

Some of us got up at 4:30am (Deb, Ethan and Nic) and some slept until 10:30am (Gwyneth). Now some of us are very tired despite the fact that the sun is still going strong at 8:45pm. It was a beautiful day today and Chris picked us up and showed us around Trondheim a bit.


We went to the spot where they do ski jumping and cross country competitions

Then to the "canonical viewpoint" where we could see downton Trondheim and beyond. We could see the math department and later when viewing the pictures we realied that we could see the roof of our apartment building as well (identifiable by its proximity to the soccer stadium).

Then to see my office and the coffee machine which serves free lattes and cappucinos to the faculty (no wonder beer is $20 per 6-pack, they need the tax money for coffee for math professors). The lounge is on the 13th floor and again the view was spectacular.

Later we wandered over to the football stadium, home of the Rosenborg Ballklub, and bought a ball which we kicked aroundt the yard.

After a taco dinner and a couple of beers we are fading fast and ready for bed.
